West San Jose NJB Information

West San Jose National Junior Basketball is a non-profit organization having separate boys and girls teams serving grades three through eight. We are a winter league and operate three different programs under the guidelines and bylaws of the Silicon Valley Section of NJB. The NJB program was founded by Dennis Murphy in 1985 and is based in Southern California.

General Information

All NJB games are played on a regulation floor with scoreboard and wear a full uniform. Referees are certified and many ref at the high school level.
West San Jose NJB is part of National Junior Basketball which has more than 25,000 basketball players across six states nationwide. National Tournaments for All-Net and for Division All-Stars are held at the end of each season in Los Angeles.

NJB Headquarters website is: http://www.njbl.org/

West San Jose NJB has players from
West San Jose, Campbell, Santa Clara, and Cupertino. We are part of the Silicon Valley Section, which has thirteen chapters.

NJB is a competitive program, with emphasis placed on good sportsmanship, scholastic achievement, and skills development. We truly believe that everyone wins playing in NJB. All parents and players interested in a high quality basketball program should strongly consider National Junior Basketball. All chapters fill up very fast.

All-Net

This program has All-Net (Select) teams for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls (eight teams total). Players are selected through tryouts in early October. The All-Net program is for players who have a highly developed skill level and will be playing other All-Net teams in four seven minute stop clock quarters. All-Net teams play a 14 game regular season plus playoffs. Players who do not make All-Net teams are eligible to play in our Division program, which has postseason playoffs and All Star teams.

Division

Our Division program separate for boys and girls and divided into three age groups: Division 1 (7th/8th grade), Division 2 (5th/6th grade) and Division 3 (3rd/4th grade). ALL players must be at evaluations to be drafted onto balanced teams. To achieve this objective, requests are not considered to play with friends or for car pooling. Only the head coach's child is guaranteed to be on a given team. Each player in the division program plays at least two full periods per game. Division play is five eight minute running clock periods. Each team plays ten regular season games plus playoffs from December through March.

The popularity of NJB and the West San Jose Chapter continues to rise each year! We need more parents to help in keeping this league going strong into the future. The more parents we can have involved, the better for our kids. Also, thanks to the many volunteers who do not have kids in the program. Without them, there would not be a
West San Jose NJB program at this point in time. Congratulations to all the coaches and players for a job well done last season! We look forward to another spectacular season - Hope to see all of you in this next season.
